our policy
WHAT IS PXSSY PALACE?
Pxssy Palace is an arts platform rooted in intentional nightlife, celebrating Black, Indigenous and People of Colour who are Queer, Intersex, Trans or Non-binary. We provide space to dance, connect and engage, whilst encouraging consent, sexual freedom, pleasure, expression and exploration of our authentic selves.
WHO CAN COME TO PXSSY PALACE?
Honestly, anyone. This has always been the case, BUT we do ask those who are not from the community that we are celebrating (Queer Women, Intersex, Non-binary and Trans BIPOC) to ask themselves why they are coming? Who are they coming with? And if they are coming, how are they contributing to the space?
Ways that allies can contribute to Pxssy Palace and our community include:
Paying more money for entry
Giving generously to the taxi fund
Supporting your family and friends who are from the community, both in and outside of our events
Being aware of the space you take up, how your behaviour may make others feel and to not walk the runway
WHAT TO EXPECT AT PXSSY PALACE
INTENTIONAL SPACES
Pxssy Palace has a zero tolerance policy for sexual and/or physical harassment or violence. Anyone who does not follow this policy while partying with us will be asked to leave. If you experience this behaviour in any form then please report it to PP Support.
PP SUPPORT
PP Support are a group of 5-15 trained QTIBPOC who look after the space and our guests. Their role is to bridge the gap between party goers and the security/venue team, and to look out for your wellbeing. The team are identifiable by LED high-vis sashes. PP Support will be on hand throughout the venue if you need to report a problem and if you cannot find one there will also be a designated PP support area. PP Support are trained by Pxssy Palace and by Good Night Out who teach how to better understand, respond to and prevent sexual harassment and assault.
NOT A SAFE SPACE
Whilst we make a lot of effort to ensure Pxssy Palace is as comfortable for our community as possible, like any space, it is impossible and irresponsible to guarantee safety. The issues we fight against in our daily lives also translate into our experiences at the club. While we will have systems to support you at our events, we do not have control over nor are we responsible for how people behave in, or outside the club. We believe that the feeling of safety is personal and we encourage our guests to look out for one another, and report whenever necessary.
REPORTING
If you experience harassment or assault at any of our events we ask that you please report to PP Support at the event. Help us to help you by immediately reporting things that shouldn't be happening in our space so we can take action - we appreciate your bravery <3. If for whatever reason you we’re not able to report an incident to us during an event we would still love to hear from you. Email us at hello@pxssypalace.com
THE RUNWAY
The Runway is an attitude and confidence based competition and is a space for those who want to be celebrated by the whole club at once. We encourage those who are not dancers, or dressed to the theme to also take part. Please check social media for set times to find out when the runway starts.
THE THEME
Our monthly events have a theme - however there is never any pressure to dress up. Come in whatever makes you feel comfortable.
FOOD
We aim to provide food vendors with meat and vegan options at every event that we do. Please check our social media prior to an event of ours to find out what will be on offer
ACCESSIBILITY
Pxssy Palace aims to be as accessible as possible for low income Queer Women, Intersex, Non-binary and Trans Black, Indigenous and People of Colour. We have a limited number of free tickets set aside for each event, if you need access to a free ticket please email hello@pxssypalace.com.
Free tickets are made possible by guests who purchase the higher cost tickets to support access for lower income members of our community. We encourage everyone who can afford to to buy the higher priced tickets, especially if you are not someone from the community that Pxssy Palace aims to centre.
Pxssy Palace aims to provide a venue map so that guests can understand the space they are entering, we also offer a queue jump and discounted tickets for aids and support workers, please email us prior to an event to secure this service. We aim to use venues that are wheelchair accessible and close to public transport, have at least one accessible toilet, gender neutral bathrooms and seating in all areas and will provide strobe warnings when needed. PP Support & the venue staff are available if you need any further assistance. We use different venues from time to time, for more detailed information on accessibility please contact the venue directly who will be posted on our instagram.
CHILL SPACE
We always ensure that there is space for us to dance, but for those that want to chill we also make sure that there is a space or multiple spaces for you to sit and relax, rehydrate, and take a moment away from the dance floor. If you ask PP support or any of our team at the ticket desk they will be able to direct you to our chill spaces.
VENDORS
At our events we always aim to book a selection of QTBIPOC vendors for you to check out and support such as massage, beauty therapy, hair care, art, and a community library. Check our instagram before each party to find out which vendors will be there.
THE TAXI FUND
Our Taxi Fund is set up to contribute to our BIPOC trans and/or wheelchair using guests’ travel expenses to get home safely from our events. We collect donations for the Taxi Fund on the door, throughout the night and on our Paypal which is linked on our instagram and website. If you require a taxi home please send us your name and a screenshot of your planned journey on any cab app with the estimated price visible to chanti@pxssypalace.com. Please then let a member of PP support know when you arrive so that we can transfer you your cab fare straight away. Please make sure you have a paypal account so that you can receive the money.
MUSIC
At Pxssy Palace we are so proud of the amazing range of music that QTBIPOC artists play, create and have shaped throughout history. In light of this, our music policy is mixed genre and you can expect to hear pretty much anything at our events, from R&B, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, Dancehall, Desi and Pop to House, Jersey, Techno, Ballroom, Gqom, Amapiano, Dembow, Bass, Footwork and much much more.
We book Dj’s who make noise, tell stories, teach us something new and hold our emotions of joy, rage and everything inbetween. We encourage you to check them out before the show so you can know roughly what to expect from an event’s line up and to support them on and off the dancefloor.
SOLO PARTIERS
The first hour is a dedicated slot for solo babes to meet other solo babes and mingle. PP support will also be there to welcome you in.
PHOTOGRAPHY
We have a photographer and videographer who will ask consent before taking your photo or after if it is a candid shot. Please note if you are near the stage, DJ’s or walking the runway, there is a high chance that you will be in a photo or video, so stay away from this area if you don’t want your photo taken. If you consent to your photo being taken at Pxssy Palace you are agreeing to have your photo on our website, social media and used for promotion. You are allowed to withdraw consent at any time.
Outside professional photography is not permitted, if you are taking pictures or videos on your phone, please gain consent beforehand.
WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
HEALTH AWARENESS
Covid and other contaigans are a threat especially for our autoimmune siblings so if you feel unwell at all please make sure to test yourself before attending our events or stay home.
WATER IS YOUR BESTIE
Pxssy Palace encourages you to stay hydrated, drink plenty of water before, between & after partying and consuming alcohol.
ALWAYS ASK FOR CONSENT
Consent is key. Do not touch anyone at the party without their consent. This includes performers, guests on the catwalk or those getting their life in a dance circle. Just because someone is shaking their ass in front of you doesn’t mean you can touch them.
HARM REDUCTION
If you decide to take recreational drugs at our events, please do so with care and respect for yourself and to those around you. Always know your limits and your boundaries. If you begin to feel seriously unwell or concerned about your health at any point, please speak to a member of staff who will do their best to support you without judgement. Free, confidential drug safety testing can be bought www.pillreports.net. We recommend you use this service for your own health and safety. Please note that even though PP practises harm reduction, the venues we use have a zero tolerance to drugs being used on site so if you are caught in the act of taking drugs you will be asked to leave.
ASK/DONT ASSUME
The Pxssy Palace community encompasses many representations of queerness, gender, and race. Please do not assume anyone's race, gender, or sexuality. We encourage you to get into the habit of asking people's pronouns.
PAY APPROPRIATELY
Pxssy Palace has a tiered ticket system that aims to prioritise Queer and Trans people who are ALSO Black, Indigenous or People of Colour.
We understand these tiers can be anxiety inducing for those who are still figuring out who they are or have low income but please use it as a guide. Regardless of your identity you should pay with your heart and your wallet while keeping in mind that larger contributions supports PP’s dream of being a sustainable and equitable Black & Brown Queer & Trans lead space and allows us to give free tickets away to low income QTIBPOC.
We do not police this, you make this decision on how you feel you should pay. We appreciate your honesty and generosit
CHECK YOURSELF
Take up space but not at the expense of others.
BE KIND
Be kind and gentle with yourself and others always.
ACTIVE BYSTANDER
Even though Pxssy Palace has PP support and also trains the venue and security to help in challenging situations, we encourage everyone to look out for one another as a community. Being an active bystander means recognising when someone’s behaviour is inappropriate or threatening and choosing to challenge it or support the person who is being affected. To find out more about being an active bystander please check out Good Night Out & Active Bystander.
BE AWARE OF THE SPACE
Take the time to be aware of the space you are in, learn your exits and areas of importance.
BOUNDARIES
CONFLICT
Pxssy Palace is not and does not aim to be the judge and jury of the community, and we seek to move away from punitive systems of language and behaviour. We do not have capacity to intervene in any outside conflicts, and can only take responsible action on issues that occur within our parties. We believe we all have room to grow, and work to do, in regards to breaking unhealthy behaviours.
OUTSIDE OF THE CLUBNIGHT
This policy is in relation to events produced by us. When Pxssy Palace does work outside of this, such as curating & djing at other events, or collaborations with organisations or brands, we may not always have the control or capacity to implement our policy. Please be aware of this when attending these types of events. If you have any questions please email hello@pxssypalace.com.
DONATE TO US
Pxssy Palace are continually raising funds for our taxi fund service that is used to get our BIPOC trans babes & BIPOC wheelchair using guests home safely after our events. In order to keep this service sustainable and to achieve our dream of becoming a self-sustaining equitable Trans Black and Brown run space all donations are much appreciated. You can donate here or buy a t-shirt here.
